Voodoo Heart

My latest Juniper line was released on Valentine's Day,
and (even though I wasn't there), I hear it was a lot of fun.
I had made a big bread-and-puppet/heart-of-the-beast/albie-rock style heart
out of boxes, newspaper and duct tape,
and then it got hung in the big display window.
And then on Valentine's Day it got interactive,
and people were encouraged to hammer some nails into it.

This thing is huge, too.
See all those nails?
That's so much Anti-Valentine angst happening.
Juniper helps you get your voodoo on.
(and has nice clothing, too)
Here's another two photos of Kate making our stuff look good.
(the rest of the pieces are all on the site)

A kissing book.

Valentine's Day!
I don't know what ya'll did for your sweety-pies today,
but I tortured mine for over four hours with needles.
So romantic, right?
I did feel bad about all the pain-causing,
so afterwards I got take-out Thai food,
watched a movie on the couch with her,
and then read a few chapters of The Princess Bride aloud.
I know you love the movie,
(otherwise we're not cool),
but the book is awesome, too.
The dialogue is almost the same,
there's tons of backstory,
and it's somehow even more absurd.
No kidding.

The tattoo is not yet finished,
and it's just a crappy iphone photo,
but you get the idea.
I know I always say it,
(and it's not always true)
but since we're married,
I'm pretty f'n sure I'll get a better photo soon.
The book pictured in the tattoo isn't The Princess Bride,
it's of a not-yet-written book.
But once it IS written,
it'll probably be a "kissing book".
I'll keep you posted.
Happy Valentine's Day, everyone*.

*unless you're not into The Princess Bride,
in which case, you're probably alone,
and deserve to be.

Award Ceremony

The results to the I Want Your Skull "Anti-Valentine" Contest are in.

1.

Amber wins.
(in every possible way that her submission could win)

First, she has a upside-down heart.
It's black, and crossed out, too.
Next, there's the calendar in the background,
and Valentine's Day is crossed out, there, as well.
What else?
How about a little of her bird tattoos I did peeking out from her shirt.
And then, for some extra credit,
she went and posted it on her blog.

2.

Matt comes in a close second place for his submission.
His photo might not be fancy,
(or even in focus)
but he's holding a real heart. (from what, I don't know)
That literal bastard.
Nice work.

3.

Li gets the bronze just for having the first submission of the first contest I ever held on this blog.
It was also the biggest heart submission I got.

These three will each be getting a copy of the I Want Your Skull Issue XIII
Thanks to everyone for your submissions.
I enjoyed this immensely,
and will hold other contest type things again in the future.
